Hyde Park Body Boutique

Candice Peters, owner of Hyde Park Body Boutique led the ladies of University of Cincinnati CHAARG in their first group workout on Sunday (2/17).  Energetic would be an understatement to explain the vibe of the workout- between the fast paced music and high speed reps. Making working out enjoyable and fun was the goal Candice had for us, and she by all means accomplished that.

The upbeat mixture of Barre and Cardio Core focused on helping our, (what Candice referred to as) “women trouble areas”. Candice’s studio is specifically for women, so she really felt a connection with why we all joined CHAARG! As women, we have clearly some different focus areas than men. Candice simply stated, ‘we want to wear heels and look good’.  She embraced focusing on those areas, rather than a workout that would target areas girls probably typically think about (arms, legs, etc). She fixated on calves, hip flexers (ouch!), and of course abs and obliques is something many women don’t even realize how to do- but is so important. None of us are built the same way, but we all have the same areas that we struggle with- it’s important we embrace our woman-ness!

Candice’s fun, ‘Beyoncé-esc’ playlist allowed us to forget we were at a workout class, and the created high energy to the unconventional workout. It was so great that the music fit the workout. Sometimes, I believe that we underestimate the power of the beat. Even if you have no rhythm, the ability to push through anything can be found through the music. Candice truly understood this, and was able to bring a true union between the tunes and the sweat. Many times I feel that music is used as ‘background’ noise throughout someone’s workout; however tonight I felt that music is something that can take your workout to the next level.

With the right playlist, you can power yourself further than you ever thought.

  • Any great playlists or music sites you’ve used during a workout? Do you have a ‘pump up’ song?
  • What women trouble areas do you want to concentrate on?

Thank you, Hyde Park Body Boutique, for such an amazing workout!
